Artwork

Picture

Since we all are aware of the menace of plastic stuff, its essential that individually we all come up with innovative and practical ideas to recycle, and reuse them. There is a lady who uses plastic used materials to create great artistic sculptures/statues. Million dollar art can come from garbage. Alchemy can get worthless garbage to be turned into eye capturing art sculptures made from used bottles and plastic.

Maurits Cornelis Escher, master artist and creator of tessellations, was born in Leeuwarden, Netherlands in 1898. After an aborted attempt to become an architect, Escher studied graphic art at the School for Architecture and Decorative Arts in Haarlem. Over the years and throughout his travels, he created a number of fascinating landscapes, portraits, and geometric designs, but the work for which he is most famous, his tessellations, were his main preoccupation. (cited reproduction)

In the above piece, a large tessellation piece is presented. In this piece, you can see how Escher changed squares into majestic birds. Simple geometric shapes transform gradually into animals.

Tessellations

To find out the mathematics behind tessellations, please visit the mathematics section of the website. Below are some examples of cool looking tessellations. Tessellations are seen in great architecture all throughout the world even today, especially in some religious buildings for various religions. Such simple animals and shapes can be put together and unique ways to make such unique and interesting art as seen below.

The dodo is dead – long live roadrunner! This gigantic roadrunner is made entirely out of trash – its white belly is mainly composed of old sneakers and the rest of old shoes but there are also old electronics, appliances and antennas. A mesh covering holds the tail feathers together. The roadrunner can be found hunting on a hill above the city of Las Cruces in New Mexico. This trash sculpture is not only beautiful but also a design and engineering marvel – it is perfectly balanced so that it can withstand even strong winds on its skinny legs. This priceless artistic sculpture was made out of trash that alone worthless. After an alchemical process of combining these basic trash sneakers and other worthless materials, this beautiful art was made clearly showing you can make something out of almost nothing.

The Mona Lisa is one of the most famous paintings and pieces of art created throughout history. This lady is the subject of arguably the most famous and one of the most valuable paintings in the world today. The interesting part is that this woman is just a peasant or simple looking person. This world famous painting by Da Vinci is a clear example of alchemy because such a simple lady and basic subject matter makes and results in such an extraordinary piece of art.

Pointillism

Pointillism was invented by a man called George Seurat. During his short lifetime, Seurat had a great influence on the development of Pointillism. Pointillism, which Seurat called “chromo-luminarism” and Seurat’s disciple Paul Signac called “Divisionism”, was the style in which small dots, or points, of complimentary color were used to intensify color and light. (cited reproduction)

This artistic movement and style can be related to alchemy because such small and random dots which alone may seem insignificant and not art worthy, are combined in such a way that the final product is eye capturing. This style shows how combining small basic splashes of color, can result in great art.
