Alchemy in Music

The song Viva la Vida by Coldplay, an alternative rock band, was released in 2008 and was a massive hit throughout the musical world. This song was voted in the Grammy's as the song of the year. This song talks about a man who was once so powerful and within a matter of days became nothing. The theme of reverse alchemy is displayed throughout the song because the man was once ruling the world, and later on it says he sweeps the streets he used to own. This hot song is a clear example of reverse alchemy of how something good can change into something really bad.
In 1991, Stomp was created by two men who had a dream of creating a musical show out of only basic rhythems and no lyrics. The performers throughout all teh stomp shows and even in the above video, use just simple everyday objects to craete music. Their simple rhythems that all the performers create simotaneously results in a great show and outstanding music. this great music is made from just many people combining their simple beats.
In the above two songs we see how one beat is the real rhythem throughout the entire song.

In lose yourself, we see how Bunny makes himself a great rapper from starting with nothing.
-people have changed bc they once were happy with such simple things like music, but now money and such complicated things are what make ppl happy these days. the requirements/entities for becoming happy have alchmically become more complex from the simple things that once united and made everyone happy....

1:05 you see the line tonight will change our lives.
one simple night that may seem drab to so many can make the biggest differnce and change the entire life of a couple.
a small simple night can cause such a large change.

From just a song many other songs formed from this like crank that spiderman, batman, homeless man, spongebob and even kosher boy. This simple song caused a brand of shoes to be created.
These simple lyrics caused a big revolution in countless industries because of the alchemical process.

The above song by Chris Brown is very complex and i personally can not believe that someone was actually able to write this. The lyrics are so complicated and unique and just the thought that simple words and rhymes put together were able to create this song is quite remarkable. Besides the fact on how this complicated song was created, this song also relates to Alchemy very much by what the lyrics are saying. Chris Brown recently was charged with being neglected after he beat up Rhianna. He was hated by so many various people throughout the fan base and music industry. He was basically nothing, as a result of some reverse alchemy. But, he worked hard to build on his despised zero reputation to make himself something again. This song relates to being known againa nd being something and definetely has a personal meaning to Chris Brwn who hoped this song might be a hit which would bring up his status. maing him something again. This song was on the list for iTunes for best rap song so i guess it was alchemy because people are liking him again.
In this above song though the theme of the song may relate to other experimental topics besides alchemy, their is one stanza that is repeated throughout the song a few times which i believe relates to alchemy. He says in one stanza that they have to work with what the have got and this definitely relates to alchemy. With alchemy you only have a limited amount of simple basic stuff and you need to make something with what you have. This stanza relates to Alchemy for sure. At one minute seventeen seconds, he says how they can either turn it all around or throe it all away. This section relates with alchemy a bit too because in alchemy their can be a turning basic to very good or even very bad. alchemy can also be turning something from good to bad or visa versa. So in that section he mentions how things are always two headed and two things can always happen. Though this song may not seem so literally connected to Alchemy, some of the stanzas definitely relate.
Above is a song written by a me and musical genius who is still currently in only ninth grade, Michael Litucy. I experienced some real alchemy when i sat down with this musician and composed music. I was lucky enough to have him make work with me and create a song on alchemy. This song can be related with Alchemy because it talks about an alchemist and personality traits that people who do every day alchemy distinguish. The title of this song he wrote is called The Alchemist We Will Turn To Gold and was written especially for this experimental. By Michael and I creating the song it is also a clear example of alchemy because from simple chords and rhymes, we were able to build and create this great song which i highly recommend listening to below. Below are some pictures of us in the creating process.
